Why does this server ask me to link Steam?

Some servers help with game issues such as ban appeals, cheating reports or trades, where staff need to know which Steam account is yours. Instead of asking you to paste a profile link into every ticket, Ticket Tool lets you link your Steam account once and choose which servers can see it.

Linking is optional. Your ticket opens whether or not you link or share anything.

What a server sees

Only servers you share an account with can see it. For a shared Steam account, that server's staff see:

  • Your Steam name, profile link and SteamID64
  • How old the account is
  • Any VAC, game, trade or community bans, from Steam's public data
  • Hours played and games owned, only if your Steam profile is public. If it is private, staff see "hidden".

When you link Steam, Ticket Tool only receives your Steam ID from Steam. It never sees your Steam password, email, friends or payment details.

Open the dashboard, click your avatar, choose Account, then the Linked accounts tab. You can also get there from the Link your accounts button in a ticket prompt, or by typing /link in a server that uses linked accounts.

Sign in through Steam

  • You sign in on Steam's own website
  • Steam confirms which account is yours
  • We receive your Steam ID and nothing else

Import from Discord

  • Discord asks you to allow access to your connections, once
  • Only verified Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Riot Games, Epic Games, Battle.net and Roblox connections are imported
  • We don't keep access to your Discord connections afterwards

Minecraft

On a Minecraft server that runs the Ticket Tool plugin, click Link Minecraft to get a code such as ABCD-EFGH, then type /ttlink ABCD-EFGH in that server's chat within 10 minutes. The server's plugin confirms which player typed the code, and Ticket Tool checks that player with Mojang and stores the name Mojang reports. Your Minecraft account is then shared with that server's Discord only. Each code works once. You need a Java Edition account; Bedrock players joining through Geyser can't link yet.

Only the server whose plugin saw you type the code treats the account as verified in game. A plugin is run by its server's owner, so if you share the account with other servers, their staff see it as linked in game on another server, not verified there. Your Linked accounts page shows which server verified it. To have another server treat it as verified, type a new code on that server too. Never give a code to anyone else: whoever types it links their Minecraft account to your Discord.

Choose who can see it

Each linked account has a Who can see it switch:

SettingWho can see the account
Only servers I chooseThe default. Only the servers listed under the account.
All serversEvery server that uses Ticket Tool, when you open a ticket there.

With Only servers I choose, use Share with a server to pick from the servers you are in that use Ticket Tool, and Remove to stop sharing with one.

When a server asks in a ticket, you can also answer there: Share shares with that server only, and Not now shares nothing. Making an account visible to All servers is only done here, on your Linked accounts page.

Every change you make is listed under Recent changes on the same page.

  • Remove a server from the list to stop sharing with it.
  • Unlink an account to remove it completely, along with every server it was shared with.

Changes apply to the next ticket you open. Support flows in tickets you already have open also stop seeing your Steam details straight away. Information already posted in a ticket before you made the change stays in that server's ticket history.

Linked accounts are included when you download your data, and removed when you delete your account.
