Save Discord Ticket Transcripts Automatically
Ticket Tool saves a ticket's conversation as an HTML transcript you can read in the dashboard and download. To save one automatically every time a ticket closes, turn on Auto Transcript on Close for the ticket category and choose where it goes: a transcript channel, the ticket channel, or a DM to the member who opened the ticket. Staff can also save one by hand with /transcript.
Which Ticket Tool is this?
Turn on automatic transcripts
Automatic transcripts are off by default, and they are set per category.
- In the dashboard, open Categories and edit the category.
- In its general settings, keep Transcripts Enabled on and turn on Auto Transcript on Close.
- Under Send Auto Transcript To, tick one or more destinations.
- Save, then close a test ticket to check it arrives.
Where transcripts go
| Destination | What happens |
|---|---|
| Transcript Log Channel | The HTML file is posted in the transcript channel set in the category's Logging tab. Use a staff-only channel. |
| Ticket Channel | The file is posted in the ticket's own channel before it closes or is deleted. |
| DM the ticket creator | The file is sent to the member who opened the ticket. This is best effort: it can't arrive if they have DMs from the server turned off or have left it. |
The bot needs Send Messages and Attach Files in any channel it posts transcripts to.
Save one by hand
Run /transcript inside a ticket channel to generate a transcript at any point. Only the category's support staff and admins can use it.
What is saved
Messages (with author, avatar, timestamp and edits), ticket details such as the number, category, creator and close reason, embeds, links and mentions. Images, text files, PDFs and Office documents are archived up to 5 MB per file and 25 MB per ticket. Video, audio and archives stay as Discord links, which can expire. The Transcripts reference has the full table.
How long transcripts are kept
Transcripts stay readable in the dashboard for a window that depends on your plan:
| Limit | Free | Community | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dashboard retention | 30 days | 12 months | Unlimited |
A downloaded HTML file is yours to keep: it opens in any browser, works offline, and is not affected by dashboard retention. The same goes for the copies posted to Discord. If a ticket matters for legal, billing or safety reasons, download it.
