Linked Accounts
Members can link their game accounts to Ticket Tool once, on their own account page, and choose which servers may see each one. When a member who has shared accounts with your server opens a ticket, your staff get a card with them, including the Steam profile, account age, bans and playtime, without asking for it in the ticket. This page is the staff side; the member guide covers linking and sharing.
Community and Pro
Showing linked accounts in tickets is part of Game Account Lookups, included with Community and Pro. Linking an account is free for members on every server.
What members control
Linking is always the member's choice, and a server only ever sees what the member shared with it. New accounts are visible to no server until the member shares them, with one server or with every server, and changes take effect on the next ticket.
| Account | How it is verified |
|---|---|
| Steam | Signing in through Steam, or imported from verified Discord connections |
| Xbox, PlayStation, Riot Games, Epic Games, Battle.net, Roblox | Imported from verified Discord connections |
| Minecraft | Typing a one-time code in game, through your server's plugin |
A Minecraft link counts as verified only on the server whose plugin saw the code typed. See Verified here, claimed elsewhere.
Steam is the only account with extra details (bans, account age, playtime). Other accounts appear on the card by name.
A shared Steam account is also how your own Garry's Mod, Rust and CS2 servers find the member: their plugins are asked about that SteamID, so there is no in-game linking for those games.
The staff card
When a ticket opens, Ticket Tool checks which of the opener's linked accounts your server can see. If there are any, a Linked accounts card is posted to the ticket's private staff thread when the category has one. Otherwise it's added to the staff-only View account lookup button in the ticket, so the opener never sees it.
For Steam, the card shows:
- The Steam name, linked to the profile, and the SteamID64
- How old the account is
- Bans: VAC bans, game bans, trade ban, and how many days since the last ban
- Hours played: total hours and games owned, or hours in the games you choose (see below)
If the member's Steam profile is private, Steam does not share their games, so hours show as hidden rather than zero. Bans come from Steam's public data and still show; account age may be missing.
Fetched when the ticket opens
Steam details are fetched when a member links their account and when a ticket opens, then kept for up to 24 hours. Ticket Tool never polls Steam in the background.
Category settings
Open a category in Dashboard → Categories and find the Linked accounts card under Game server tools at the bottom of the General tab.
Ask openers to link or share Steam
Turn on Ask openers to link/share Steam to send openers a private prompt when your server can't see a Steam account for them:
- If they have linked Steam but haven't shared it with your server, they are asked Share your Steam account with your server? with Share and Not now. Making an account visible to every server is the member's choice on their own Linked accounts page, never a button in your server.
- If they haven't linked Steam, they get a Link your accounts button that opens their Linked accounts page.
The ticket opens either way, and nothing is shared unless they press a button. If they share, the staff card is posted to the ticket straight away. This setting is off by default.
Once a category asks for Steam or uses a lookup or ban source that needs a linked account (Steam, Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Rust or CS2), your server also gets a /link command. Members type it to open their Linked accounts page, so you can mention it in a panel or welcome message.
Choose games for hours played
Under Show hours played in, add up to five Steam app IDs (the number in a game's Steam store address, for example 730). The card then shows the opener's hours in each of those games instead of their overall total.
You can reword or translate the prompt and its buttons under Dashboard → Settings → Localization, in the Linked Accounts group.
Steam variables
Category intro messages and flows can use {steam.name}, {steam.id}, {steam.vac_banned}, {steam.hours} and more. They are empty when the opener hasn't shared a Steam account with your server, so check {steam.linked} in a flow condition first. The full list is in the variables reference.
Outside a ticket, or for someone other than the opener, the Account Lookup flow node fetches the same {steam.*} values mid-flow and branches on whether a shared account was found. See Account Lookups in Flows for how.
For members
Members often ask why a server wants their Steam account. Point them to the member guide, which explains what is shared and how to stop sharing.
